in the field of Dialog Modeling

The responsibilities include basic research in the area of statistical machine translations, as well as participation in application targeted research projects in the area of multimodal Human-machine interaction. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the state-of-the art of modern translation systems.  He/she will participate in the design, development, and exploration of innovative methods, algorithms and techniques leading to improvements in translation performance.

 

Within the framework of the international center for advanced communication technology (interACT), our institute operates in two locations, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany and at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh und Silicon Valley, USA. The focus of our research is to develop better communication and computing services that take advantage of an understanding of the Human context and activities. One of our current research interests is the field of simultaneous translation of lectures, video conferencing, and monologues in general.

 

We seek qualified candidates with a M.S. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.  The position offers the opportunity to work toward a Ph.D. degree.  A record of academic achievements, relevant experience and knowledge in relevant areas, and good programming skills are expected.
